Fait prisonnier, Paul Feller est interné au camp de Trêves où il se lie d’amitié avec Jean-Paul Sartre, qui écrira, pour lui, une pièce de théâtre, une Nativité : « Bariona, ou le Fils du tonnerre » ; le soir de Noël 1940, Paul Feller jouera le rôle de Bariona, le chef des juifs dressés contre les Romains. Sartre, lui, joue le personnage du roi mage noir, Balthazar.
En partenariat avec La Maison de l’Outil et de la pensée ouvrière. En hommage à Paul Feller avec l’association des Amis de Paul Feller.
En 1962, Sartre annote sa pièce : « si j’ai pris mon sujet dans la mythologie du Christianisme, cela ne signifie pas que la direction de ma pensée ait changé, fût-ce un moment, pendant la captivité. Il s’agissait simplement, en accord avec les prêtres prisonniers, de trouver un sujet qui pût réaliser, ce soir de Noël, l’union la plus large des chrétiens et incroyants ».
